Congratulations
to Jesus 'Chuy' Lara with the Palo Verde GC for winning the Cactus and
Pine Custom Chopper raffle this past weekend. Ticket #3527 proved to be
the lucky draw for the custom motorcycle valued at over $50,000.

The Cactus
and Pine Golf Course Superintendents Association will raffle off a
custom-built motorcycle to benefit The First Tee of Phoenix.
The custom chopper, built by Evolution Custom Cycles in Tempe, features
a unique golf theme and has an estimated value of $50,000. It will be
on display at a number of events and venues throughout the Valley
through April, including the FBR Open and Super Bowl.
Incorporated into the design of the chopper were several golf course
superintendent "tools of the trade," including a cup cutter that makes
up the handle bar assembly.
Raffle
tickets will be sold for $20 and will be available for purchase
anywhere the chopper is being displayed. Tickets also can be purchased
directly through the Cactus and Pine GCSA by calling 480-609-6778 or
emailing Carmella Ruggiero at carmella@cactusandpine.org.

To All C&P Members
and Affiliates, we have donated one of our proprietary seeded varieties
to a group of Marines stationed in Iraq. They are going to build
a scaled down version of a soccer field. The unfortunate part is
that they have no mowing equipment and since a reel mower takes more
care and knowledge to maintain I was wondering if anyone would have a
good conditioned rotary mower w/ catcher they would care to donate for
this project. We will take care of all the shipping,
documentation and boxing-up. Anyone interested can get in touch
